Guadalcanal (Solomn Islands)
During his stay at the artist-in-residence at WNET TV Laboratory, New York in 1976, Nam June Paik filmed the "Guadalcanal Requiem" as part of the John Kalder Public Art Project, Australia. Guadalcanal is located in the southeastern part of the Solomon Islands, and it is a place where American and Japanese military forces had fierce battles from August 1942 to February 1943 during the Second World War. The American President, John F. Kennedy was stationed there.
