"The Medium is the Medium" consists of works by Nam June Paik, Allan Kaprow, Otto Piene, James Seawright, Thomas Tadlock, and Aldo Tambellini, which was "the first nationally broadcast video art television program in the United States." Paik's "Electronic Opera No. 1" was broadcast as the final piece of "The Medium is the Medium." "Electronic Opera No. 1" filmed the movements of three male hippies and topless female dancers, and these movements were mixed with the images of President Nixon and his attorney John Mitchell, distorted with a magnet.
