When Joseph Beuys first arrived in the U.S. in 1974, he covered himself in felted cloth and rode an ambulance to Rene Block Gallery in New York to spend three days with a wild coyote only depending on a cane and the felt. And then he returned to Germany. In this performance titled, "I Like America and America Likes Me," Beuys attempted to live in coexistence with nature to represent the primaeval history and vitality of the Native Americans.
